HORSE Event Picks

Hello,

So four of my picks are out Benyamine, Cunningham, Singer and Kravchenko. That leaves Negreanu, Luske, Cloutier and Kaplan. All have a nice amount of chips with two being near the top of the pack. Some predictions for the remaining four seats at the final table, which, although I am selecting them in the middle of the tournament, I figure that I can pretty much do whatever I want since it's my blog and it's not as though I am betting on it.

The first one I will select is Erick Lindgren, not because he is at the top of the leaderboard but because he was one of my alternates. Again, he is playing very good poker this year going deep in several events including a couple of final tables and a bracelet. I am kind of upset that I didn't pick him in "Round 1" but I am throwing him in now. Chip counts mean nothing at this point in the tournament and my other selections won't necessarily have a lot of chips.

My second choice is Layne Flack. He is at the bottom of the pack but if he can get something going he has a good shot. Also a bracelet winner this year (#6), he is playing well and I could go all the way if he can get some more chips.

My third pick is Chad Brown. He is an excellent good limit player and has a proven track record in high stakes poker. He may be one of the better limit players in the field and is good at all the games and is particularly proficient in the stud games which make up 60% of the games played. He is also no push over in flop games and I except he will go deep. He is in the middle of the pack.

My last pick is Joe Cassidy. He does not have a lot of chips but is considered by his peers to be the best limit hold 'em player around. People have said that they won't play him because he is too good. Obviously no high stakes pro will turn down a match with him but with backing like that I have to give him credit. If he gets something going I except a deep finish from him. In addition to hold 'em he is plays all the games well and understands the limit structure better than most.

So the final table list looks like this. It will change if players get knocked out. I suppose my final picks will be when the tournament reaches the money. It may seem easier then but this is just for my own amusement anyway. Enjoy!

  • Daniel Negreanu
  • Marcel Luske
  • T.J. Cloutier
  • Gabe Kaplan
  • Chad Brown
  • Joe Cassidy
  • Erick Lindgren
  • Layne Flack
The first four are original picks.

Elminated Picks
  • Alex Kravchenko - considered to be the best player to come out of Russia. If you look up his stats you will see he has basically taken down every tournament there.
  • David Benyamine
  • Allen Cunningham
  • David Singer - no three-peat
See you on the felt,
