Hello,
I'll try and make this quick. I just need to get out my frustration and get back to playing the solid game for which I am known (at least to myself). I was playing a little higher than I normally do ($1/$2 PLO on FTP) and I got dealt double suited aces UTG. I was in for a few hundred and have a good amount of it back on the table (somewhere around $350 or so but I don't remember exactly). I potted it and got a call and a raise behind. I decided to play this one a little fancier than I normally would in hopes of winning a huge pot. I don't really want to race a big stack with one pair (it's not my style but if I had a smaller stack I would have). I smooth called as did the other caller. The flop was a beautiful A-6-2 rainbow (I had initially thought I had flopped quads for some reason thinking the deuce was an ace) and I went for the check-raise knowing that if someone flopped a set they will be fairly comfortable betting it because it would be hard to put me on aces in this spot (although not entirely out of the question, my pre-flop disguised my hand pretty well). Sure enough there was a bet from the pre-flop caller and a smooth call from the pre-flop raiser. I am able to raise enough to get most of my stack in but suddenly, the inthinkable happened. I began to wonder why the player behind was taking so much time to act. Then the dreaded FTP login box popped up. I had been disconnected. I frantically tried to get back on as quickly as possible. The way I saw it, I had about two minutes to do so (their time to act on the flop, plus my time to act on the turn plus my 90 second disconnect time. It was not to be.
When I finally reconnect I was sitting with a little more than $20 and the guy to my right had a huge stack. Anyway, the ultimate happened. The caller had 6-6 and the pre-flop raiser, of course, had A-2. The turn paired the deuce and they got it all in folding me out of the pot. Then, before I threw my computer out the window and started breaking everything in sight I simply sat out, texted The Poker Grind (thanks for not answering me in my time of need, lol) to vent a bit and then took a walk around the block and had a few smokes. I actually felt much better when I came back and was able to mount a decent comeback, not only getting even for the session but pulling out a whole $8 profit. I am not done playing yet but this one was hard to swallow. I had this ridiculously loose image because I had been raising a lot of pots and even lost a few coolers and hands I had no business playing. So I was finally able to capitalize on a few buy-ins worth of aggression and win the big one. I guess that's how it goes. It comes with the territory of playing online poker. You gotta deal with it. The worst part is that it wasn't even my connection. My Internet was working fine. But I know it's not even worth my time e-mailing FTP. They will, without a doubt, blame me rather than their shitty connection which can't seem to stay up for more than 24 hours straight.
See you on the felt,
